The following tips should help you to keep, serve and enjoy your cheese in the best possible condition.
- Keep your cheese wrapped in the waxed paper we wrap it in.
- Keep your cheese in the bottom part of your fridge, this is the coldest part of the fridge which will slow down the maturing process so your cheese doesn't become 'over ripe'.
- Keep your cheese in the fridge in it's own box, this will help to maintain a more constant temperature and more importantly a constant humidity, which will help to stop the cheese from drying out.
-
Cold cheese tastes bland, when serving cheese, it's important to allow the cheese to reach room temperature, around 1 hour at room temperature will allow the cheese to fulfil it's potential
- We advise customers to eat cheese from us within 10 days of purchase. This should ensure you will enjoy the cheese as you bought it, cheese kept longer than this may still taste fine, it may even taste better but it will almost certainly taste different to when we sold it. We always try to sell cheese at the point at which we think it should be eaten.
.
- Wrap very hard cheeses in a damp cloth or tea towel over the waxed paper, this can help to stop them from drying out.
- If serving cheese as part of a cheese board at the end of a large meal allow around 80 grams of cheese per person.
- If the cheese is going to be the main event we would suggest more like 200grams of cheese per person
- If you're on a tighter budget get larger peices of fewer cheeses, this will create a bigger impact and allow your guests to go back for more of the ones they liked the best!
